Less than a week before the end of our stay in New Zealand, David and I went for a trail run to Maitai Cave. The first part of the trail followed the Dun Mountain Trail and was wide and relatively smooth. It was a nice trail and we could imagine ourselves doing a long run there. After a while it narrowed and had a stream crossing, and plenty of rocks and roots. That section of trail is not used as frequently and was like a jungle. Due to the recent rainy days, the vegetation was green! It was beautiful.

The silver fern, native to only New Zealand.
On the drive back, we saw a couple of parks with a swimming hole.
